- School authorities owe a duty of care of pupils who are entrusted to their charge and control.
- The school commences at 9.20am.
- No pupil should arrive later than 9.40am.
- When the school grounds are open to pupils, the school cannot accept responsibility for children arriving before the official opening of the school, or remaining in the school grounds after the children are dismissed.
- Absence and lateness (i.e. after 9.20am) should be explained by a brief note signed by a parent/guardian.
- Children wishing to leave the school, within official school hours, must have a note, signed by a parent/guardian, stating the time parent/guardian or another adult known to the class teacher will collect the child from the classroom.
- The school should be made aware of any Court Order which affects the child’s welfare and also the name of any person into whose custody the child should not be given.
- All pupils are expected to wear the school uniform during school hours.
- Tracksuit only worn on days appointed for Physical Education.
- Jeans, leggings, shorts etc are not acceptable.
- In the interest of children’s health, fizzy drinks, crisps and sweets are discouraged from lunch boxes.
- Chewing gum is strictly forbidden.
- Appointments to see the Class teacher or Principal must be made through the school secretary – to minimise disruption of class work.
- Admission Forms must be completed in full on arrival of new pupil/s.
Bullying is repeated aggression, verbal, psychological or physical, conducted by an individual or group against others. (Guidelines on Countering Bullying Behaviour in Primary and Post Primary Schools 1993).
Bullying is an abuse of power.
Bullying is the breaking down of a person.
At Culleens N.S. there is a zero tolerance of bulling.
